General Musings Part 26

If you wanted to come up with a theme for this one, I think it would be "why people suck & The Angry Redheaded Lawyer would rather be friendless than suffer these fools."

* First, more religious corruption. Are you not surprised that no one in this congregation is thinking about the women involved who may actually have been raped? No public backlash, not even a "we expect more from you as a man of the cloth & you let us down." Nice to know that pedophiles & rapists are always welcomed in the flock while homosexuals & liberals are condemned and outright trashed. Some of these very same people even do the condemning!

Consider all the flack people are giving Chaz Bono, and much of that coming from self-proclaimed religious people who claim Dancing With the Stars is a "family" show.

Since when did anything currently airing on TV become a "family" show??? I've never watched Dancing With The Stars and I have no interest in it. Just another reality show, if you ask me. I also believe in the freedom to do whatever you want with your own body without religious harpies going around & castigating you for it.

None of these morons have to live in Chaz Bono's body or deal with the day to day consequences of that sex change operation; are these the same sects that hassle people for getting tattoos or piercings? Do they go around examining people's private parts to see if they've been pierced? I sure wouldn't want to belong to that congregation. Would you?

* Aaah, toxic friends and workplace drama. These must part of the base of the pyramid of nastiness in human beings.

Honestly, I don't get it. I dealt with the toxic friend situation (actually, I prefer the term "shitty friend" since that's really what it is) in middle school. Maybe it was more like "inattentive friends?" By later on in high school, I stopped worrying about what anyone else thought of me & decided to live my own damn life. I also had more experiences that made me realize than when someone is a drain and a cancer in your life, it's better to simply eradicate it. This is why I never had a relationship lasting longer than 6 months before meeting my spouse, a partial reason I refuse to have children & why I don't have many true friends. As I said before, when the thought of not being friends with someone makes you feel like a heavy weight has been lifted from your shoulders, what are you "saving" and why are you still friends w/that person?

Reading the workplace drama one was interesting. See the part about James Powell, where his wife was being "teased" at a company event by a prick co-worker who claimed she was too pretty to be married to him. She "internalized the stress and jokes" and it harmed their marriage?! Are you kidding me?!?

I went to a holiday party for my husband's old job (which I refer to as "the Hellhole"; you would to). When I was there, I had what folks call my "Cinderella" gown on & was asked by one of his co-workers why I was dating him (at the time, he was my boyfriend). I responded that I had (still have, in fact) a mental connection with him & that when you have a mental connection with someone, you've got the real thing.

I still believe that, in fact. Looks fade. People switch careers, lose their fortunes, get injured. Everything flows from that mental connection: chemistry, love, all that stuff. If you've experienced it, you know what I'm talking about. If you don't, maybe you will someday. I never expected to so if there's someone who can put up with my ass & not kill me, I'd think just about anyone has a fair chance.

I sure as hell didn't "internalize" this shit or have it affect my relationship. Who is that kind of woman? A good wife would be doing what the politician's wives do: bolster their spouse in people's eyes, give you a glimpse into what she sees in him and make you feel ashamed for being a total dick all at once. My husband's co-workers would also never get away with being nasty to me. I wouldn't even let his bosses do that; I don't work there & as a lawyer, it's in my nature not to take shit from others or let people pick on my loved ones. Messing with them is the same as messing with me. I also don't owe my husband's employer anything as it relates to me or my career. Getting on my bad side guarantees I'm not doing a damn thing for you, regardless of who you are.

If it sounds like I'd be a good politician's wife, you might be half right except I can't give birth to kids & I don't take kindly to infidelity against me unless we agreed to an open marriage for both of us (not just the guy) & clarified that whole arrangement. Plus, I'm too much of a romantic, insist on having my own career & couldn't deal with getting the short end of the stick emotionally. I can't be a leech, all right?

* Thank God there are some judges with common sense! I was gratified to read that this lawsuit by some trust fund brats who will likely end up living here as hipsters & driving up real estate prices was dismissed. I didn't grow up in a $1.5 million home or act entitled to money in birthday cards so, yes, if you fit those conditions and bring this up in a lawsuit I'm going to call you a trust fund brat right to your face.

Want to talk damaging, Steven & Kathryn?? Try growing up in a household where your father's a raging alcoholic who destroys your belongings and throws things near your head when he's drunk? How about fleeing from your home when he's in a drunken rage? Or living with a mother who refused to leave & left you feeling like she put her husband ahead of her kids? How about a father who steals from you and feels zero remorse for it?

Or how about being a victim of incest or physical abuse? There are adults who lived that & I bet they're pissed at you both for the gall you have to claim you had it "so bad" when I'm sure you wouldn't last 5 seconds in a real crisis. I'm pissed at you & I only suffered emotional abuse.

Grow up and then maybe we'll take you more seriously when you claim to be undergoing "hardship." I feel sorry for anyone foolish enough to employ either of these people.

Reading this also made me feel better. It tells me the legislators are women hating morons who should keep their mouths shut unless they can get pregnant. If women supported this legislation, they should shut up unless they've actually been in this situation. Otherwise, they also know nothing or at best, have been brainwashed by religion so intently that they should never hold public office in a secular setting where they have to represent the interests of people who don't believe in their God.

These judges give me a slight bit of hope for humanity.

* So does this man, in fact. I would have a lot more respect for many people, especially those in education, if they did what Larry Powell was doing. Why can't people like him run the country? Take note. People would love you instantly for giving up some high power salary & using it to fund important projects that would be cut otherwise.

* But..just when I have some faith in humanity, it gets shattered again. Consider this college's intrusive application question.

If you think coming out wouldn't be held against you in a college setting, you're horribly naive. There was rampant homophobia at my undergrad & I attended a liberal arts school in Atlanta. You'd expect that place to be a bastion of gay pride & acceptance. Not quite. There were still a number of bigots there. They did harass the gay people & their friends; I also didn't much administrative action in the face of it all. The people victimized also complained about that lack of administrative action.

Could you imagine answering that honestly in places like religious schools or areas where they put a priority on religion? You would get branded. I'm not stupid enough to fall for it & I hope others won't be either.

I feel asking about sexual orientation is just like asking about race. You're either creating a form of affirmative action (which I'm not in favor of since I'd rather just kill bigots or avoid learning such personal details altogether to get around prejudices) or inviting people to lie so they can get scholarships & so forth. Lying about sexual orientation seems much easier than lying about your race.

And would you want to be the token LGBT person/guinea pig being used to create more campus "diversity?" This means, you're the only one & will likely be made to feel unwelcome by the student body at large.

The exact issue came up at my college where they wanted black students to increase "diversity." We were in the midst of black colleges! Even if these particular schools weren't well known for academics, I can't blame a black college goer for not wanting to subject himself/herself to some of things going on at my undergrad at that time. That was the early 2000's.

So maybe someone had noble intent in asking that but my cynic side just sees problems akin to those of race.

Having finally dealt with some of the issues of the day, I'm going to see about eating and trying on my new shorts.

General Musings Part 22

Now that the whole wedding experience has been purged from my system, I feel like things are more back to normal. Crazy, busy and nuts: certainly. But it's MY crazy existence and I can say that there are few dull moments.

So, the time has come for yet another general musings post. Here goes:

* First, let's talk about the ridiculous amount of student loan debt graduates end up with. This story claims that there are young people who feel "empowered" by having debt.

Well, how the hell else should they feel? Do you want them to feel suicidal? Hate ALL the baby boomers for never retiring and getting out of the way so younger people can get the jobs paying fair wages? Maybe they ought to start murdering people who refuse to retire so they can get jobs that pay better than fast food worker. Would you rather they do that?

If they killed themselves en mass, who'd pay for the Social Security benefits most older people get? Maybe we could start offing Wall Street executives & government officials who should get out of the way. Any young person's feeling empowered by being in debt is all their fault anyway so I'd think these people would consider that their personal safety benefits more by that mindset than if young people felt cheated, betrayed, angry and lacking in any incentive to care about the rule of law or going to jail for murder. That just leads to lashing out and people getting hurt.

Consider that there is currently a class action lawsuit against a Tier 4 law school by recent graduates who are suing on the basis of misrepresentation of their job prospects after graduating & obtaining non-dischargeable student loan debt to the tune of six figures.

If you go around thinking that the economic background you're born into is where you're stuck at, no matter what you do, then unless you're rich you'd either kill yourself or become a criminal. I'd certainly do it. There's zero incentive to do any better & if you hate where you came from, you're fucked pure & simple. Not a smart way to organize society since you'll lose a lot of intelligence, diverse viewpoints and innovation. How many advances came from people who didn't start out as millionaires?

I rest my case.

* Thank you, Alec Balwin for summing up much of my opinion on the whole Anthony Weiner "scandal." How many people have done far worse things and STILL got to hold on to their congressional seats? What about Rangel or Bill Clinton or plenty of other politicans who did all sorts of egregious things like stealing from taxpayers, voting against the will of the people, etc.?

At least he didn't beat a woman up, use the taxpayers' money to visit his mistress or deny the whole thing. He manned up, admitted to things and didn't make some grand apology about how the devil had control of his mind like some other people I could think of.

I don't think the man should resign since to require politicians to behave "honorably" or thinking such a code exists is laughable at best. He's at least being one of those honest politicians that I mentioned would get my respect. Is it embarrassing for him? Sure, but I think it's time we joined the 21st century and got off our collective "holier than thou" high horse. Those calling for his resignation: what skeletons would we find in YOUR closet? How many misdeeds have you committed while a public official? I'm sure you've been in lobbyist pockets' for ages and done enough to warrant a charge of treason.

Unless you can prove otherwise (which I strongly doubt you can), perhaps you should shut the hell up, all right?

* This man is a piece of shit. I'm being dead serious about that.

If you have not heard, this scumbag decides to get even with his ex by putting up a billboard about how he lost his unborn child because his ex decided to abort it. If that's not cheap, judgmental and tacky, I'm not sure what is.

He's trying to claim it's a free speech issue, much like the military protests at funerals by Westboro Baptist Church. Yeah, let's think about that:

1. If you allow this kind of speech, you stigmatize abortion. Abortion is still legal, nut jobs.

2. If abortion is stigmatized, that means more unwanted children and kids in the foster care system. Not every pregnancy results in "pretty little white children" to quote Uncle Ruckus from The Boondocks. If a child doesn't fit that category and family is not willing to step up, the future is very grim for those kids. Not every parent is June and Ward Cleaver (from a 1950s show called Leave it to Beaver, for those who may not know the reference; it was known for presenting the perfect, happy family)! Get your head out of your ass and join us in real life.

3. People have glossed over the privacy implications but I bet it's because they are men. If you are a woman and don't see how a ruling for this man will affect you and your rights, then you need to get your head examined & stop listening to people like Sarah Palin.

4. What about doctor/patient confidentiality? That will be a total waste in the case of abortion, especially if you were required to tell the sperm donor about the abortion prior to getting one. I shudder to think what kind of father this man would be. What would he do if his kid turned out to be gay or took drugs? What if he wanted his child to play football but that kid didn't want to?

5. What about the implications for victims of domestic violence? Are you going to make some woman bring a child into that situation for fear that the abuser will do this in retaliation and get away with it under the auspices of "free speech?"

This shithead, Greg Fultz, is nothing but an abuser, plain and simple. What else can you possibly infer about someone who does this to get revenge on a woman? I certainly wouldn't nominate him for sainthood, though maybe the lunatic fringe of the pro-lifer crowd may try to have him canonized.

This woman did society a favor by not bringing into the world a child who'd probably be just as stupid or ugly as this man, not just physically but mentally.

I'd also bet you a million dollars that if she got pregnant and kept a pregnancy to term, he would not step up if it was inconvenient for him. How many men claim they would stand by their pregnant mate only to ditch them later on when the reality of parenthood hits, oftentimes before the child is born? It's not all cuddles & ice cream, you know.

Men absolutely deserve equal rights and should NOT be forced to support children they don't want but until society stops acting like all children are loved and wanted, there won't be equality on this issue. I'm all for fairness to men but until we can sue them for violating legal contracts on conception and child care and adult women who do not want kids can get voluntary sterilization without doctors bullying them out of it, abortion is just a sane and necessary option.

Certain US politicians are just trying to turn women into slaves and objects once again (maybe some abroad are as well but I don't know). That doesn't help and I hope those affected by these people will personally send a message to these misogynistic pieces of human garbage. If they lived in my district, I'd sure as hell give them a tongue lashing they'd not soon forget.

Should you happen to read this, Mr. Fultz, my speech is OPINION, which is not actionable as defamation. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it! If you manage to find a woman willing to have sex with you after this, I will be shocked.

* Finally, I read this today and something occurred to me that might not have occurred to you when you read it.

I remember getting out of school early in the late 80s/early 90s because of lack of air conditioning at school. Why in the hell are schools STILL without AC? It's only gotten hotter in 20-30 years during the summer. Surely some school districts could have prioritized getting air conditioning in the schools over crap like whether one's loved ones make too much noise at their high school graduation or some girl wants to go to school with red hair (I still can't get over that one & would love to see how these Texas school officials acted toward me with my bright, naturally red hair). Certainly most places should have planned for it, especially in the South. Now, if you're in the Midwest, maybe it's not sweltering, sticky hot that much. If you're in the South, it's inexcusable.

Where's the parental outrage over this? I hope there is some. I would certainly have some if I had a kid attending school in one of these districts.

Now I should see if it's still raining outside.

General Musings Part 21

Once again, a bunch of links & a moment to comment on them. Also having some personal stuff going on but let's just say that Friday the 13th continues to be a day of good omens for me. Not sure why, but it is. Most people wouldn't have gotten married on Friday the 13th or worn a black wedding dress but I've been married over 4 & 1/2 years and am still happy w/my man. Obviously, the non-traditional approach works for me.

Aside from that, it's on to the comments/rants.

* First off, if you don't see the announcement of Osama Bin Laden's death as some political tactic you need to get your head out of your ass & stop watching reality TV. Apparently, Michael Moore also thought something was up. Now, personally however Bin Laden died, I think he got exactly what he deserved. If you want people to sympathize with you and not cheer when you're dead, you don't go murdering innocent people & bragging about it with zero remorse. I didn't cheer when he died but I also didn't feel sad. I just felt nothing. My instant though was "Obama's guaranteed his re-election." Just before that news, his poll ratings were at a significant low, gas prices were rising and the economy was down the tubes.

Now, most of that is still happening but I feel like it was strategically placed news to take wind from the sails of the Republicans & the Tea Party. Even my mother says political games are at work here.

If you disagree, you're part of the problem & a total sheep. You should be deported to some country where illegals are from & we should get to exchange citizenship to a hardworking illegal who does ask questions instead of you, who may as well be a slave somewhere. If Mexico & some other places go for it, how about it?

That leads to another point: if the Republicans want to win an election, why can they not run a moderate candidate? Someone that has a brain and makes points that aren't just rubber stamped by the idiots among us. I know there are some & they could do better than people like Sarah Palin who are national jokes.

Personally, if Donald Trump ran that "I admit I'm a bastard" campaign & didn't start attending some Baptist church or apologizing for his past deeds while running for President that would earn my respect; that would be showing honesty. I can at least get behind his views on foreign aid since we've got our own house to clean. Being altruistic isn't admirable when you do it at the expense of YOUR citizens, family, whoever you're responsible for taking care of.

Would you like a father who fed food to a random homeless man while letting his kids starve? I'm sure people would want that man to be lynched. Giving foreign aid out while letting US citizens suffer may as well be the same thing.

* I say "hell yes" to women owning guns. So does this woman. Get proper training & punish people for not acting in self-defense, but damn skippy women should be able to protect themselves!

I'm also for self-defense training and until government starts providing funding for all women to get it regardless of their financial means, we should really consider these points. When the MTA has no liability to me if I get raped in one of their stations, I assert that my right to protect myself trumps any city interest in banning types of weapons. The bad guys will get them anyway & we know it's just a cheap attempt to prevent the violent overthrow of the corrupt government that exists. Every thinking person knows government on all levels has some form of corruption; just a fact.

Free tip: anyone who's determined enough to do something wrong will do it. Plain and simple. All the laws, regulations & security cameras on Earth won't stop it.

* So if more people were like this guy, we'd have far fewer problems. Makes one want to offer to represent him in court pro bono or mentor him.

People bashing this guy, again are examples of sheep who should be exchanged for some of the hard working illegals who do embody the spirit of this country.

Oh, and if you have a lifetime ban on doing business w/some company if they screwed you, why the hell would you care? If you've screwed me over, I'll never do business with you again. Why would I need a formal ban for this? Makes no sense. Plus, if you were wrong how about admitting it and not being a dick? Did we ever think of that?

* Speaking of corporate stupidity, I like this comment that a poster named Jon made on this story. Here it is:

Twitter gaffs happen because people are too fricking sensitive, think their feelings matter when they *opted in* to follow another person's thoughts, and because the Twitter user can't police the people who follow them.

I put corporations that fire a spokesperson over something said on Twitter in the same category as managers who don't hire a young person because the manager snooped on that person's Facebook page and found out that they OMG got drunk at a party in college #shameonthem. I.E., shooting themselves in the foot. Giving up a qualified job candidate for something they did in their personal life is absurd.

Take Godfried as an example: Eventually, if you fire enough people for making Twitter gaffs, no one will want to work for you. Or you'll offend more people who supported the spokesperson (a number no doubt larger than the number who were offended), who now aren't interested in your products because they think your company overreacted.

I think he's got a point. I hope it comes to be that a company known for this sort of thing loses potential workers b/c they feel they'll have no room to be themselves or customers who think their policies are just draconian. Remember, customers watch you & scrutinize your behavior just as much as you scrutinize an applicant. I certainly do so watch out. I can take my dollars elsewhere & have.

* Finally, this is why I'm not flying unless it's on a private plane. I should almost thank the person who never contacted me about that job where I'd have had to travel & deal with this crap. Just one more in the series of employers who ultimately wasted my time & contributed to my distrust of people as a whole. What's new?

On the bright side, I did have a conversation with that estranged friend today and maybe that friend can be someone I trust in that next life phase. At least I don't have to worry about being pestered for favors or used for things by this person; nor am I required to hold my tongue on matters of the gigolo or do him any favors b/c I don't help scumbags who hurt my friends.

The thing that got me mad in the first place was at least resolved. Guess what? If you don't want me to reference you or you have a problem w/my right to have feelings & freedom of speech, you don't get to be in my circle or read my status updates. I'm a creative person & a writer; daring to intervene in that process is telling me to give up my identity. If you want that, then you have no business around me.

Assassination Attempts on Political Figures & Inflated Titles

So, after a trek to the grocery store & an adventure to get back home to finally see Little Darlings (a movie I'd heard a lot about but never seen), I go to check my other e-mail accounts and found this story.

I see a lot of hypocrisy in the responses to that whole assassination attempt. First off, I'm shocked it hasn't happened more often. Not so much because the Tea Party followers or Sarah Palin devotees are "insane" (I understand the frustration & agree w/some of their points). The reason I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often is because people of all views are pissed & have been since the economy went downhill. Furthermore, some of these political figures literally strut before the world & act like arrogant, cocky motherfuckers* who don't have to answer to anyone, even God.

Second, why is it that no one ever tries assassinating the true scumbags? Why hasn't anyone taken shots at Bloomberg or Charlie Rangel? You want to talk about people who act like they are above everyone else (especially their constituents), there's two right there! Why didn't anyone try assassinating Dick Cheney when he was in office?

I've never heard about this Arizona representative or the federal judge who died strutting before the media & implicitly proclaiming that the voters can suck it if they don't like some unpopular action they've taken like overriding voter approved term limits, violating ethics rules, voting in line with business interests at the expense of the common man, etc. For all the negative talk you hear about Nancy Pelosi, I haven't heard about anyone taking a shot at her either. I don't know enough about her to assess whether she has a superiority complex but if you believe her detractors, you'd think at least one person would have tried it by now.

Not that I'm going to assassinate anyone myself (not yet, anyway) or wish people dead but I wouldn't shed tears over any scumbag getting what's coming to him/her (political figure or otherwise). I'm not a friend of any politician unless I knew the person before (s)he took office; I'm probably the biggest cynic of all when it comes to that issue.

Third, why do you never hear about left-wing liberal groups doing these things? I find it hard to believe that no liberal or independent has considered it or would do it in any set of circumstances. I'm pretty sure that conservative, Republican voters aren't the only people who make it a habit to change unpleasant situations in their lives instead of sitting around whining about them. Heck, there are just as many whiners in that group as any other.

* If my use of this term offends you, tough cookies. This is an anti-censorship space & if you know what I'm talking about, you'll definitely agree w/my use of the word in this context. Otherwise, bitch about it in your own blog! *

Aside from all that, I found something utterly incredible in a Craig's List ad (where else?):

Since when has the position of "Receptionist" been called "Director of First Impressions?" Did I fall asleep and wake up in some parallel universe? Why don't we just call the crack head in the group "Director of Controlled Substance [or the chemical term for crack] Consumption?" The term "domestic engineer" is certainly not part of everyday language. Should we call the head cheerleader of a team the "Director of Merriment?"

For Christ's sake, let's call a cat a cat. Stop with the whole inflation of titles to make people feel better. HR people & hiring folks aren't fooled: call yourself a "Director of First Impressions" and no one will say "Oooh, how impressive!" Nope, they'll just think you're some cocky little so & so trying to make a silk purse from a sow's ear.

The garbage man doesn't need a self-esteem boost. Nor does the restaurant server or retail clerk. These people are well aware of what they do & unless they're getting great pay or promotions, probably won't do it forever (and I speak from knowing actual servers, janitorial folk & being a former retail clerk). I view inflated titles from employers as an attempt to patronize the worker.

It's not enough that they're going to pay you a pathetic wage & expect you to put in the same long hours as a company Vice President; now, they're going to patronize you by calling you the "Director of First Impressions."

And why is it not a shock to me that a law firm is doing this? Can anyone answer that?

Would Jesus Make a Better Politician?

My husband & I were driving in Long Island today and saw a sign on the side of the road that said "Jesus Would Make a Better Politician." As my husband is very anti-religious, he said he felt compelled to run it over w/the car.

Personally, I despise this "Jesus Save" graffiti I keep seeing in my neighborhood subway station over things this judgmental prick disagrees with. I have a much bigger problem with that than I did with this sign. In fact, I'm tempted to write "Shove it, Churchie" or some such remark on that graffiti the next time I see it since it reeks of judgmental behavior in its placement.

However, I think many clergy people wouldn't want Jesus to be a politician in power. At least, if you believe in a Jesus that you can't buy off or make into your little puppet.

If you're a new reader, go back to some of my posts on my religious views and my history of all that. Also read up on my views on politics.

Oh, and I have a great idea. Let's require politicians to sign blood oaths in their own blood before distributing campaign ads and literature to the public. If they get elected and then lie about what they signed in the blood oath, we get to kill them with no punishment or any repercussion of any sort. Heck, it would be a public service to save the citizenry from yet another corrupt piece of entitled shit who doesn't deserve to suck the taxpayers dry. That might keep politicians honest + cut down on the excessive ads and mudslinging you see.

So if you're someone who runs some mega-church and has buddies in high places, I really don't think you'd want Jesus as a politician. After all, Jesus would be the most honest, non-corruptible politician on Earth. Jesus would see to it that clergy who molest little children and buy off the police and politicians were taken care of in the worst way. Rich people would have to fork over their money to handle homelessness, child welfare issues, animal cruelty and other problems happening in this country. Maybe Jesus would come up with a better balance for cleaning your house vs. cleaning other people's houses.

I also think zealots would be disappointed when Jesus stood up for the Atheists, the Muslims, Jews and other groups who don't follow their little cult. Jesus wouldn't let pro-lifers kill abortion providers or allow fundies to harm people who are different in the name of "God."

* Yes, I certainly think American fundies are capable of being just as bad as Islamic radicals and if they'd lived the conditions of foreign Muslims, would be just as violent and intolerant as any "terrorist." Look at the fellow who did the Oklahoma City bombing in the '90s; people killing in the name of religion & their god isn't just a Muslim thing.

I have to wonder who put up the signs & who thinks Jesus would be a better politician. I'm sure it had to be some group that wouldn't really like a Jesus led regime since that means they'd not get to be their brother's keepers or browbeat people to do what they wanted instead of exercising their freedom to do as they wished. If sane people put it up who really took the time to consider what Jesus would advocate and what he would be opposed to, I'd be absolutely amazed.

Stay tuned for my Halloween specific rant on Halloween. No, it's not "I Hate Halloween."

General Musings, Part 3

Sometimes, I accumulate all these links I want to rant about then realize I have too freaking many. So, here we go again:

Apparently, this is what all the umemployed lawyers should be doing. However, let's think for a few minutes on this.

What if you're not working in the criminal arena? And will the FBI hire new attorneys?

What if you don't want to live in DC or any old place in the country?

Finally, I don't see anyone who knows me really being happy with the idea of me having access to weapons & other things you get from being in the FBI. I think they'd view it a bit like handing a machine gun and keys to a tank to Travis Bickle. There's only going to be disaster from that.

I like how Jason Latshaw thinks but perhaps he should hang around some bitter, unemployed attorneys who lack career prospects before endorsing their membership into a government organization responsible for bringing wrongdoers to justice. If some of these attorneys haven't become wrongdoers yet, I think they will pretty soon out of economic necessity, anger or psychological problems. I witnessed some of this firsthand when I did my first and only document review assignment.

Okay, pretty much all of mine & my husband's exes are, in fact, crazy. What do you call someone who:

* Puts hair clips on a cat's tail to discipline him
* Demands their significant other to immediately end all friendships with members of the opposite sex existing long before the relationship started
* Tries to elicit sympathy from your family members by discussing your relationship problems with them instead of his/her own family
* Tells you "I want to get married." & is only dating you for that reason
* Claims he/she wants to be a musician and live in New York City but then moves to Arizona and makes zero effort to find a band, practice or perform for anyone
* Sleeps with everyone in a major city (male & female) while lusting after a military member stationed overseas & dating you
* Still calls you after you mention that the person brought roaches into your parents' home
* Gets you soap as a Christmas gift when you shower regularly & have no problems with BO
* Drinks like a sailor and picks fights with strangers while you are driving

You'd have some of our exes. Oh, and saying "we're soulmates" in my world just means you're in lust up to your eyeballs with me. There's 3 simple options to the whole crazy ex thing:

1. Don't do the same shit everyone else did. I'll be the first to admit that women as a whole are crazy & some of us deserve the negative things people say about us. If you want someone to give you a chance, stop repeating everyone else's behavior.

2. Find someone whose ex stories are as bad as yours. Worked for me.

3. Create an act & take it to the road. Use the experiences to become a comedian, writer, something creative. It's cheaper than going to a therapist. I do some of that as well.

This topic has been done too death. If you think the choice not to breed is selfish, then how about you get a hobby? How about working in the court system or in a family law office that handles lots of cases dealing with children in awful situations? Perhaps adopt a few kids in this country.

Otherwise, keep your damn mouth shut & take your religion back to your church. I think once we accept this reality & make voluntary sterilization more accepted (i.e. no Spanish Inquisition for childfree women over 18 to get it done), we might be able to meaningfully tackle the abortion issue.

I think medical providers should be held liable for rejecting someone for sterilization who later has a child that becomes neglected or abused by the same woman either directly or indirectly. Local government & the court system should be able to get involved as well since that doctor's attempt to play God wasted the court's time & the government's resources having to intervene in neglect & abuse situations. Might teach some doctors to stop assuming a grown woman is broken if she doesn't want to give birth.

The ones who live in this century are a treasure & should be nationally recognized for treating women like adults instead of baby incubators.

I hope they just forgot a slash in between those two words. Otherwise, this has crossed a new level of ridiculous. No one needs to "assist" an INTERN. If your intern needs an assistant, then the intern is a moron who should have been tossed out before that ever happened. Or that person is no longer an intern & needs to be called something else + paid a proper salary.

Damn link is gone but thank you to the other states! It's not just me. Keep your eyes peeled for the revolution since this just looks like another sign in that direction.

I agree with the people who said Mom needs a hobby. If I let my family pick a spouse for me, they'd probably have picked Psycho Boy. They'd have never met my husband & they still think I should be okay with the idea of seeing him attend my sister's wedding, where I am standing up for her as a Matron of Honor. They seem to think I should be okay with it even if I was there alone.

I think it's because the women in my immediate family never had exes; they married all the guys they dated. At least they like my husband & my in-laws like me; if either of them were still talking to our exes socially or bringing them to family events, I guarantee that we'd tell those family members it was disrespectful to our current person & we'd cut that family off in a flash. I feel that if you're going to marry someone, you need to not put them in uncomfortable situations or force them to hang around exes. The idea of it is downright offensive & distasteful to me.

Yes, I definitely speak as someone who doesn't believe there's such a thing as truly being "friends" with an ex as a general rule.

This guy is awesome. It would cause chaos but I still think espousing anti-establishment views is an awesome thing & support any political figure who has common sense + thinks outside the box regardless of what the press might say. Bravo!

And finally, this.

This is all b/c the media got involved. $1 million says that if the media hadn't intervened, this woman would still be tossed out on the street. I'm glad for her not letting bigots in government push her around; we know bigots are out there & with all the old rich white men in government, I'm not the least bit surprised.
